A Day In The Life: Annmarie

Here is a quick peek at a day in my life.

This week I am at Mama’s house. She is on vacation. I am house sitting, animal wrangling and sewing in peace.

I get up early to feed the cats. See how eager they are?

Although you can’t see them all, she has 10 cats. Not many at all.

After feeding them, I must take care of Mama’s chickens. No. Not these chickens.

I should be so lucky.

No.

These chickens.

Mama’s chickens roam her yard during the day and go into the hen house at night to roost. That way they stay safe from the coyotes.

See what the chickens do to her moss covered hill?

Wicked creatures.

Before letting the chickens out of their hen house, I take a minute to admire the view.

The chickens are ready to go out and find worms and insects and poop in inappropriate places.

After all the chickens leave, I must sneak into the house and gather eggs. I guess I don’t HAVE to sneak. But I do.

Guess what I found?

3 eggs!

I also found this.

Bless her heart.

She’s sitting on eggs.

I don’t know how to tell her there will be no chicks in those eggs.

Mama sent her Rooster to be with Jesus. The rooster was being hateful. Flogging everyone. He couldn’t live here anymore. Now he is with Jesus. Jesus lives in town with Carlos and they raise chickens.

All this before 9 am!

  • You have a lot of gorgeous land.

  • meanmarie

Mama has 18 acres in the country. She and Daddy built a huge log home on the land. They used logs from trees they cleared from the property. (They were hippies. Sort of.) Her home is gorgeous. I sometimes wish I still lived here.

  • Hope

Jesus and Carlos the chicken farmers? Is no aspect of the Anderson women’s lives mundane?! I love it!

  • Beautiful. And I don’t blame your mama for sending the rooster to Jesus.

It is beautiful here. And no, no part of our lives are mundane. I would be devastated if they were.

  • Nope AM I doubt any part of your life is mundane. :D
    I loved these.

    Thankyou for sharing them..
lol It brought back memories of my Nannas chooks, if it were my turn to get the eggs with Pop I’d be really anxious they’d peck the vain on the top of my foot then of course I’dve bled to death. ;]

Sometimes they were so cranky!(the chickens)

  • That was so good! Can I come live with your Mama? I could stay outside and play with the kitties all day. However, she’ll have to do the egg-gathering. Hens peck me.
